Steel Cut Oatmeal with Berries

This is an easy healthy breakfast that can last you all week.  The quality and quantity of the protein in oats is far superior to that of wheat and most other grains. One ounce of oats has twice the protein of corn flakes or wheat. But the most important nutritional advantage is soluble fiber. Oat kernels look very much like wheat in structure. They have an outer covering of bran which protects the starchy endosperm and the germ that sits at the bottom of the grain. Because the oat kernel is soft, the nutritious bran is not removed. Whole grain oats contain seven B vitamins, vitamin E, and nine minerals, including iron and calcium. Now do you realize why this is such a wonderful breakfast food, plus the antioxidants you receive by adding berries makes for a well rounded nutritional breakfast!  This is so simple…

Recipe:
For Steel Cut Oatmeal
1 cup steel cut oats
4 ¼ cups water
½ tsp salt
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2T of Organic Agave

Optional: Raisins and Cranraisins optional. Add fresh blackberries and raspberries! Yum-Oh!

Boil water of medium-high heat add salt and bring to a boil.  Once at a boil add steal cut oats 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract, and optional raisins or cranraisins.  Stir the ingredients together and place the lid on the pot; cook on low heat for 15 minutes. Once the oats have fully absorbed the water and are cooked through and stir in 2 tablespoons of  Organic Agave.  Top with fresh berries and serve!
