Magazine Overload

Do you ever want to just escape from the world, sometimes, to have a little quite time?  On too many occasions my life is bombarded with T.V., the Internet, social events, work, cleaning my house, and running everyday errands, that I never really get a chance to sit and be with my thoughts.  And it’s crazy (or silly) when I realize I am at this point, is when I have too many magazines to read and never time to actually sit down and read them!  I have months of issues I am behind on (sad face)!  The only time I get to spend time with my thoughts is when I crawl into bed at night to rest my head, but I fall asleep so quickly that there isn’t much time to think about anything!  I know that for the most part, it is my own fault!  When I was in high school and even college I felt like I used my time so wisely, because my schedule was so chaotic and I got a lot done in a day!  Then sometimes I ask myself, did my life seem organized, because I had back to back activities that had timelines, i.e. dance, cheer, school, etc.  Then there are times when I wonder where I dropped the ball!  I’ve come to realize that priorities change and it’s another stage in my life that I have to get used to.  When you’re young and you don’t have to think about work, life is more relaxed and you have more free time,  but as soon as you hit corporate America, your life goes on hold and you run on their time table and when you get to be on yours, your almost too exhausted for activities and fun!  By no means are my magazines priority, but I love them and they allow me to escape and enjoy creative and pretty things!  One of my goals in the coming year, will be to spend more time with God, worry less and take time to enjoy the little things (magazines and books) and big things (family and friends) in my life!  I hope you all have a fabulous hump day!

Rachel Ashley

A Swanky Hotel

Posted by on Jun 12, 2012 in Fashionably Interior Design | 0 comments

Okay, everyone its summer time and I am obsessing over so many hotels!  I am incredibly attracted to hotels with a good aesthetic and amazing interior design!  There are so many boutique hotels popping up all over the world that ooze with these qualities.  These boutique hotels bring a hunger for experience and a taste for the unusual.  There are so many great websites out there, that you can subscribe to and stay up to date with the latest and swankiest hotels!  Check out The Redbury in Hollywood, California!  I love the ecelectic design concepts within the hotel.  Many aspects of this hotel are modern, but the designer grounded the hotels design with traditional furnishings and accessories!  I personally, have never stayed here, but its on the list!  Check out all the great accessories, baroque chairs, moulding, checkered floors, small details that I truly love about this hotel!

Do you have a favorite boutique hotel?  Do tell, because I would love to add it to my “places to stay” list!  Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Rachel Ashley

Inspired by Bright Colors

Posted by on Mar 10, 2012 in Fashionably Interior Design | 0 comments

Interior design, fashion and so many other things in life start from an inspiration.  When designing a space you will have a fabric, maybe a piece of artwork, or something that will trigger inspiration.  In the fashion world, most shop window mannequins have bright colored clothing and accessories, similar to the 80′s, but we are also seeing this trend inspire the interior design world too. Don’t let bold colors scare you, experiment with them!  Slowly add bold colors into your space and you will see that they can bring life to what was once plain and boring!  Be bold and let color inspire you!

Hot Pink!

Happy Saturday!  I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend thus far.  I have had an intense, but very fun week and a busy weekend ahead. Thursday night was the fashion show and my fabulous hairstylist did such an amazing job on my hair.  Since she did such a good job, I had to leave it in for one more day, so after removing all my makeup I wrapped my bun in a scarf and then I wrapped my whole head in a separate scarf.   I felt like my grandmother, because she always wrapped her head in scarfs when going out into cold weather, seeing myself like that made me giggle.  I was successful and was able to save my pretty up-do for Friday.  I paired my fun up-do with a bright colored blouse wide legged blue jeans and a lot of gold and pearl accessories.  Plus check out my killer sunglasses…lol.  They remind me of the 80′s, but I totally love them and they were perfect with my pink shirt!  I was excited to wear my Vince V Camuto  Booties too, because I don’t think I have worn them since Thanksgiving!  My bright pink blouse was a gift from my husband on my birthday and I just took the tag off!  Its always fun to pull new clothes out of your closet!  Well, I look forward to sharing my fashion show photos and the story behind my costume  here on Fashionably Living tomorrow, so be sure to check back!

XO,

Rachel Ashley

Animal Prints

I was once told that every room needs something with animal print, as well as, a black piece of furniture.  I would say that I would have to agree.  Interiors need to breathe life and express a sense of fun and energy.  Animal prints can push boundaries, which I love.  There are so many animal prints that interior designers are using besides leopard and zebra.  Designers are using cheetah, tiger, giraffe, and many others.  Over the past several years, animal prints have become increasingly popular in interior design and fashion.  The reason animal print can have a bad rap is because some people overuse it.  You would never want to wear and outfit from head to toe, in animal print; therefore, you would never want to decorate an entire room with animal print either.  When looking to add a splash of life to room in your home, consider using animal print.  Rugs or carpets with animal prints can be a fun addition to any room.  Upholstered ottomans in an animal print and accent chairs upholstered in animal prints can also be used to spice up a room.   Don’t be afraid to use animal prints.  Animal prints add just the perfect touch to a room or an outfit!
